No Future without the Present

It takes mindfulness to be present without dismissing the importance of the past or focusing on the promise of the future. My research with pro-choice activists in Northern Ireland has made me keenly aware of the need to focus more on the present through witnessing the bodily risks of futurism. Reframing the present and the future through the embodied experiences of reproduction has helped me to reassess the importance of the present—for my activist collaborators and for anthropology.
