On Monuments and Racial Violence

After almost a year of hearings regarding New York City monuments that display racist and violent histories, the city’s Mayoral Advisory Commission on City Art, Monuments, and Markers published their commentary and findings on January 12, 2018. Mayor Bill de Blasio stated (press release), “Reckoning with our collective histories is a complicated undertaking with no easy solution.
