Barbara Kochard joined the AAA in October 2022 as the director of development. She is responsible for fundraising efforts, including the Annual Fund, donor communications, and the ongoing comprehensive campaign. She is excited to bring her scholarly passion for the world of anthropology together with her professional background in fundraising and nonprofit management.
Barbara brings over 12 years of community-based nonprofit experience in human services and educational organizations, managing fundraising operations, communications, strategic planning, and capacity-building efforts. She earned her BA in anthropology and sociology from the University of Pittsburgh, and her MS in nonprofit leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.
After work hours, Barbara enjoys exploring trails in Eastern Pennsylvania with her dog in tow, baking new treats as well as tried-and-true family recipes, and tending to her houseplant collection. Embroidery and needlepoint have become a meditative and creative outlet in recent years. Barbara lives in Eastern Pennsylvania with her husband Nick and their dog Reese.
